Journalism vs Activism

Journalism and activism have two distinctly differently roles. Journalism refers to an impartial and unbiased reporting of facts that constitute news to the general public. Activism on the other hand is a movement attempting to bring about a change, at the core of activism is an ‘agenda’ which makes it an oxymoron to journalism.

However, it is the divine responsibility of a free media to engage in activism to bring about change for the greater good. Whether it is about defending one of our own from baseless accusations, similar to the ongoing case against our national cricket team or whether it is bringing down a corrupt and tyrannical government.

The singular point being that it is easy to declare that journalism and activism are ideally kept apart, but the media has a responsibility to act in the greater good. There are numerous journalists who are also activists and very vocal about their beliefs. One prime example is a journalist named Alex Jones, who has been working tirelessly for over a decade to expose and destroy the elites’ agenda for global government and control of a wealth on the planet.

Activism is a ‘responsibility’ for a journalist and not a carte blanche to have a personal agenda and needs to be handled with care.
