Journalism is the investigation and reporting of events, issues, and trends to a broad audience. Although there is much variation within journalism, the ideal is to inform the citizenry. Besides covering organizations and institutions such as government and business, journalism also covers cultural aspects of society such as arts and entertainment. The field includes jobs such as editing, photojournalism, and documentary.
Activism consists of intentional action to bring about social, political, economic, or environmental change. This action is in support of, or opposition to, one side of an often controversial argument. In contemporary use, "activism" tends to be a word associated with the actions and ideologies of those on the political left.
But now we see normally our journalist thinks that they are contactors of our society, as they try to impose their opinion on general public which is totally again the ethics of journalism plus they try take the matter towards its solution by themselves which is again the Job of activist not come under the umbrella of journalism.
They project themselves through their campaigns on media rather than seeking and showing truth, programs like “Meray Mutabiq” or now “Views on News” by Shahid Masood, who is Dr. Shahid Masood to prove things right or wrong what authority he is put his views on news to temper the public opinion about anything or anyone.
Statement like “what can I do to remove you from Govt.” by Mr. Luckman to a government t official comes under the banner of activism. Our journalists are now Activists. Journalism is dead.
How can any journalist can play a song or directly call our national Player a convict without a trial and its results.
But one thing..who else is leading this non literate majority?? At least these so called journalists have some say and they point out things in favor of public. Something is better than nothing and we something (media) to question our higher authorities, because common man can never reach them.

Muhammad Raheel
